LONDON, 17 August 2026. microagi is making the UK its first priority market outside of Germany. The company has opened its new London office just weeks after closing a $55M seed financing round, the largest in German history. microagi hosted a roundtable, “The UK state of robotics, and how we leapfrog it to the global gold standard,” chaired by HM Trade Commissioner for Europe Ceri Morgan CBE and joined by senior representatives from No.10 and DBIST.
Representatives from industry, research, and government explored the growing need for greater physical AI capability and robotics deployment across Europe, and the role advanced industrial data infrastructure can play in improving productivity and competitiveness.
“Together, the UK and Germany have some of the world's strongest industrial brands and centuries of engineering expertise,” said microagi CEO Bercan Kilic. “The next challenge is turning that capability into proprietary training data that enables robots to operate successfully in real-world industrial environments. Robots and models are ready for demos, the data makes them ready for production.”
Why the UK
The UK started the first industrial revolution and it has everything it takes to pioneer the next one: two centuries of engineering heritage, one of the densest AI talent pools in the world, and a long pedigree of leading industrial companies.
The obstacle is deployment, not capability. British plants run 112 industrial robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers - around half the European average of 208 and below the global average of 162. The UK ranks last in the G7 for robot installations, and its share of global manufacturing has fallen to 1.9%.
That foundation is changing. Over the past eighteen months, the UK has built sovereign AI capability: a £500 million Sovereign AI Venture Fund, a £1.1 billion AI hardware plan including a new national supercomputer, and five AI Growth Zones. That investment has gone into compute, capital and infrastructure. Robotics is the natural next step: models are trained on compute, but they have to work on the factory floor - and the deployment layer between the two does not yet exist at scale in the UK.
What microagi will build in Britain
Physical data is the scarcest input into physical AI and the hardest to reproduce. It is generated in local factories by local workers, and it should stay there - a question of data sovereignty that will be vital to control over the UK and Europe's industrial future.
In June, the UK's AI Adoption Plan for advanced manufacturing found that too many industrial AI projects stall in pilot phases rather than delivering sustained impact. Its priority interventions include trusted operational data environments and lighthouse deployments that prove industrial AI in live production. Robots currently reach 95% task accuracy and then stall; the last few percentage points require training on each company's own operational data and edge cases.
Atlas, microagi's platform, solves this. It captures data inside live production with dedicated recording hardware built for quality and privacy, multiplies it in simulation, and fine-tunes the best available model for plant-specific tasks.
In the UK, microagi plans to rapidly expand its team of forward-deployed engineers and physical AI experts to enable this. These engineers sit inside a customer's factory and work directly with them to bring robotic deployment from demo to production via continuous loops of training. The proprietary data stays with the manufacturer that produced it, the fine-tuned models stay in the country where the work happens, and the plant depends on no single robot maker, model vendor or supply chain.
microagi's expansion builds on the UK's growing AI ecosystem and supports the objectives of the UK-Germany Strategic Science and Technology Partnership on AI, established by the 2025 Kensington Treaty.

About microagi
microagi, founded in 2025, is a robotics deployment company. Its platform, Atlas, fine-tunes models on a customer's own operations, drawing on microagi's proprietary data corpus, and closes the gap between the robot that impresses in a demo and the robot that does reliable work on the line. Atlas is hardware- and model-agnostic: a neutral layer between a customer's infrastructure and frontier AI models, designed to prevent lock-in to any single vendor. microagi is headquartered in Munich, with a research hub in Zurich and offices in London and New York.
